Fire Truck Baby Shower Cake {Omaha Baby Shower Cakes}

I love and fear the freedom of being given open reign on cake orders.  Stephanie has had a few cakes of mine in the past and this time she said, "The shower theme is fire trucks, it's a boy, his name is Conlen."  The rest was up to me.
I love the ablility to get to try new or different ideas, come up with my own visions.
I hate the fear of worrying about the client not loving it...luckily, she did :)

So, if you are needing a baby shower cake in the Omaha area, look me up on facebook (Confetti Creations) or check out my website.

Pirate Cake {Omaha Birthday Cakes}

I can't believe I never posted this cake here!  It's a pirate cake with argyle as the bottom tier.  I do believe this is one of my most favorite cakes ever...it was a display at the spring Millard West Craft Fair...I loved getting to look at the skulls and crossbones on the cake all day.  It is made using both the silhouette and the cricut.

Cricut cake Class in Fremont at Precious Treasures

The next cake decorating class using the Cricut (note, you do not need to own any electronic cutter to take this class, all supplies, including a cake, will be provided) will be held on October 8.  Please email me at confetticreationsbyjessica at yahoo dot com for the details...and spread the word!  It will be held in Fremont, NE at Precious Treasures.  Yes, it is a few miles from Omaha, but her store has such a great collection of items it's worth the drive just to check out the store!
I will also be doing a demo using the Print and Cut feature of the Silhouette...I'd teach the entire class using just the Silhouette, BUT...I only have one Silhouette and six Cricuts...so, cricuts it will be.

Limit:  12 students.
Cost:  $75 per student

includes cake, recipes, cricut usage, and more!

Fall Craft Fairs, 2011

This year I plan on doing TWO craft fairs, Millard West and Burke High!  They are a little over one month apart, so I will have time to add more inventory.
The fairs will feature some fun Halloween neck ties and tie tacks, along with Christmas ties and numerous other fabric options as well.  Mustache tie tacks (yay!), and other fun, whimsical ones as well...and for $3 each, you should get one for every dress up occasion.  My little boys love their ties and tie tacks!
Also, I will have select sizes of red/black/white damask girls skirts with a large number of red/black/white tie combinations for the holidays as well.  And I think B.Accessorized might just have coordinating jewelry for the little girls as well!
So, something to look forward to...stay tuned for specifics to come.
And as always, check out Confetti Creations on Facebook for the most recent information and pictures of projects!

Omaha Birthday cake

Yes, I know this pictures angle is sideways, but A) I wanted you to see the hot pink flower and B) the front angle picture wasn't as good.
Though I didn't know it, the stripes and flower choice perfectly matched the set of dishes Linda used at this party!  I was so excited to see that.

Girl Baby Shower Cake {Omaha Baby Shower Cakes}

 A girlfriend is expecting baby #2 (first girl) any day now and this is the cake I made for her shower.  She cloth diapers so I used a print of a diaper we were actually giving her on the cake!  Got to love the Silhouette's print and cut feature when used with Icing Images and edible ink!

Sweet 16, Graffiti Style {Omaha birthday cakes}

There were lots of surprise cakes to be made this month!  This is the second of three!
Paul is an artist and his mom thought it would be neat to have some of his artwork on his cake.  She snuck into his room and snapped pictures of some of his artwork on his walls then emailed them to me.
I printed them onto frosting sheets and used them to decorate the sides of this delicious cake.  Seriously delicious.  Top tier:  Italian Cream with cream cheese frosting.  Bottom tier: Orangecreamsicle (aka:  Fred Flintstone PushPop in a cake!)
I was struggling with the font to use on this cake, but once I noticed that there was a word in a "graffiti" font, not just another part of the artwork, I did a quick google search to find "graffiti font" and BAM, perfect BOY sweet 16 cake.  Boy cakes are a bit tricky to figure out, but taking the time to really think it through can really pay off.

Princess first birthday {Lincoln Birthday Cakes}

 Little Ms. D's birthday theme was centered around these adorable plates her mom bought for the occasion.  She asked me to base the cake around it as well.  I tried to match as many elements as I could...I feel I did a decent job.  I captured the blue butterflies and flowers, the purple hearts, the hot pink "1" with purple dots, and the crown :)  I wish I had some sort of edible bling to represent the blinged out swirls, but a few solid white swirls had to suffice.

Surprise Birthday Cake {Papillion/Omaha Birthday Cakes}

Before I baked cakes, I scrapbooked.  While I still love to scrapbook, it seems I rarely get to do it anymore!
I do get together with a GREAT group of girls about once or twice a quarter to scrapbook and relax.
Linda's birthday is not until July, but most of us won't be around for her BIG 6-0 day, so we decided to surprise her, and her daughter, Stacy, with a cake at our scrapbook day on 4/30.
It was a lot of fun to plan the surprise and the best part?  Linda sneaking cake to "take home to her husband"...that cake never made it past the front door :)

Thanks ladies for being such a great group of friends!  I LOVE when we get together and scrapbook, gossip, and just have FUN!

POKEMON Birthday Cake {Omaha Birthday Cakes}

Every other week, three days a week, it is my turn for car pool.  I pick up a brother and sister and once they are in the car, the air is filled with chatter of one thing, and one thing only: POKEMON!
When the sister was getting ready for her big EIGHTH birthday, I was excited to be asked to make her cake.  She literally designed every aspect of it from color choices, images, wording...every single thing is from her imagination...and while at first I was a wee bit hesitant of it, I must admit, I LOVED the way it turned out!  The colors worked so well together and I think the idea of having it have grass and clouds was a great idea.
Happy Birthday Ninja Girl!  We love you!

BFF SURPRISE! {Omaha Birthday Cakes}

Well, for the full story, click here.
But...in my defense, I didn't mean to upset her, promise!
Cake flavor:  lemon with raspberry filling, her favorite!

Kentucky Derby {Omaha baby shower cakes}

 I always giggle a little when someone asks, "Can you do a .... cake?" Fill in blank:  graduation, super hero, random color choice, whatever.  Sure, just because I haven't done that theme yet doesn't mean I can't.
However, I was stumped when the theme of Kentucky Derby came through my inbox.  I was not sure how to convey both the elegance and sport of the KD with a baby shower.
So, lots and lots of image searching, IMing my cake consultant, Megan, calling my mom and day dreaming about this cake...and  I am very happy with the final product.
The colors were coral and gold.  I painted a cream gumpaste band with gum glue, then poured LOTS of gold shimmer dust on top to create a solid gold band.  I will probably not do that again, unless for a small cake like this one.  It was not hard, but you don't want to touch it because that can mess up the shimmer.

I found an image of a rose that I felt would be simple enough for the cake, but also pretty and something you could tell was a rose!    The horseshoes were simple shoes that I lightly dusted with the gold shimmer dust before applying, to give it some golden sheen.

For the top, I loved the idea of a lady in a big hat as a silhouette. (Thanks MR for that idea!).  I went with a dark chocolate brown to compliment the colors of the shower.  And man, did the brown really tie it all together in what I hope would make anyone in attendance at the KD proud ;)
I think the reason I was so nervous about this cake all dates back to college.  My kinesiology professor (for two semesters, even though I tried to NOT have him the second time around) was a HUGE Kentucky Derby fan and attended EVERY year...as in, he had permission to give his finals early so he could leave for a weekend trip to Kentucky.  True story.
I guess remembering how much he loved it made me feel I had to do a really good job to pass his class, lol...even though that is not even close to the truth!  But I think that random tie with that professor who made me nervous and pushed to hard spilled over into this part of my life.
Funny how things like that happen.

Fondant Class Scheduled for Lincoln

Yep, you read right, LINCOLN!
My fondant 101 (as I like to call it because I am fancy, you see.) is hitting the road!
So, if you are somewhere around Omaha but not in Omaha, send me an email and we can see if we can work something out.
Rates are a bit more then the normal $12.50 a person, to include my travel rate.
And then you, too, can learn to decorate cakes like you see on t.v.!
I am so sad I didn't remember to bring my camera to the last class I taught.  The ladies made some lovely cakes and I really liked their color choices.

Wonder Woman Cake {Omaha Speciality Cakes}

Wonder Woman cake make with the print and cut feature of the Silhouette and covered in fondant

My husband and his co-worker planned this Wonder Woman cake out for administrative assistants day.  It was not given on the day OF that holiday, and one of the AA was out sick and the other was on an all liquid diet for some reason, but...they do say it is the thought that counts!

With Mother's Day so soon, what Wonder Women do you have in your life that you'd celebrate with a cake?

More on Ms. K's Zebra and polka dot cake

I thought I should share a few pictures of the inspiration for the cake.  Ms. K wore a zebra striped/hot pink/white polka dotted outfit made by (will fill in as soon as I know, lol).
Professional portrait by Photos by Liz.  Find her on Facebook or at her website.
The cake topper was based on her invitation (seen below in a cell phone pic) and coordinated perfectly.  Both of those were designed by Simply Said by Courtney.  Her blog and facebook page have more information.

The entire party was put together by Marcia, of Your Perfect Day Wedding Planning (who happens to also be Ms. K's mother).  Find her on facebook as well.

The "K" was found at Hobby Lobby the day before the party in a chance encounter!  I didn't know they had alphabet initials for cakes at that store!  It was $3.99...I really want to get some of every letter (in case they quit carrying them) but that seems a bit obsessive, lol.

Monkey-ing Around {Omaha Birthday Cakes}

Ms. K turns two and she is TU-TU excited!  Her colors are zebra stripes, pink polka dots, and lime green accents.  Her theme is monkeys and tutus!  So cute, just as she is.
The cake is loosely based on her outfit she will be wearing today at the party.

Millard West Craft Fair, a success

 I took the beautiful pink sun rise to be a good sign for the Millard West Craft Fair.  It was bright and early when we got there, but we as we set out our merchandise, our spirits were high and you could feel the excitement in the air.
 I really enjoy meeting new people, talking about my "goods" and my friends "goods" and also just trying to get people excited.  I wish I'd walked around and taken pictures of all the gaudy, awful things that were there...it was like a really old lady's dream come true.   BUT...I decided that'd be tacky and didn't do it.  See, I have some manners ;)
 Overall it was a fun day with Lori and Candace.  I am debating on doing more or not...time will tell.

Green Wave Ladies Night Boutique

The Saddlebrook Craft Fair, AKA:  Green Wave Ladies Night Out, was a success.  I tried to give away LOTS of business cards, so if you are visiting because you met me there, WELCOME!
I had Pyper with me, selling adorable covers to keep the sun and dirty strangers from little babies and fleece covers as well.  As soon as I dig her card from my stuff, I will post her site here.
This was my first time having a dummy cake and I think it was a success...except for the whole unable to eat styrofoam part ;).  I did have cake samples BUT there was no room so they had to stay in the car :(  The TRAVESTY!
Saturday is the Millard West Craft Fair from 9-4 then Sunday is etsy listing day!  I have Easter iron ons, lots of new BOY iron ons (plus two for girls!), and neck ties and bow ties!  I can't wait to share them all with you!

Leo loves Pac Man and I love my Silhouette ! {Omaha Birthday Cakes}

Leo's mom designed this cake topper.  She also happens to be the one who designed my logo!

Leo loves the NEW Pac Man, not the old one...I didn't even know there was a difference!  I love Mr. Leo...he is so funny and inquisitive.
I hope he likes his cake...He wanted it to be a surprise so his mom planned it out and isn't giving him any clues about his birthday party.  How fun is that?

To make these decorations, I used my print and cut feature on my Silhouette.  It was very easy to do and makes for such beautiful cakes.  Everything on the cake is 100% edible, too.

Xander is FOUR! {Omaha Birthday Cakes}

Shanyn found adorable race car invitations with lime green and brown.
She also found an awesome cake in a book and asked me to copy it.  This is my version of the cake in the book...though I loved the one in the book more!
